STA Breaches: Over to You Noosa Council

By Julia Craddock, Sunshine Beach

When will Noosa Council start taking proactive action on “illegal” and absent signage, and STA breaches?

When will the local law be implemented?

Why has the task been handballed to residents with no regard for their safety or residential amenity?

I did not sign up for the job of unpaid STA compliance officer. What responsibility do you bear Council? Liability? I did not sign up for abuse and property damage as a consequence of seeking implementation of the local law. Something I as a resident should be able to take for granted.

Your regulations: You implement and enforce. Don’t tell me what you can’t do for me, tell me what you can. Most importantly: show me!

Simple example:

My principal place of residence neighbour who STA’s property has now well and truly exceeded STA letting this calendar year. The property is registered. Council very reasonably, should be monitoring it. Why isn’t it?

A simple check reveals the property is still advertised on Airbnb for the remainder of this year.

Why doesn’t Council contact AirBnB and advise that the listing is not “legal” for the remainder of this year?
Why isn’t the owner contacted?
Why isn't the ad removed?
Why aren’t all PPR properties monitored?

It’s the easiest task. Gratifying to see removal of Aspire advertising signs. What about the other real estate agents? Why only one company? And why are STA Council registration signs being removed in Sunshine Beach?

Over to you Noosa Council.
